Nancy has honorably served the town of Farmington as a volunteer and an elected official for over 20 years.  She has spent 8 years on the Council; the last 4 as Chairman.  

Her involvement in town as an elected official began in 1991, when she ran for a seat on the Board of Education.  She served for 16 years on the Board, including 10 as its Chairman.  During Nancy’s tenure, Farmington schools received many statewide and national accolades including Blue Ribbon designation and recognition in Newsweek for the high school as one of the top in the nation.  

As a volunteer on various boards and organizations, Nancy is connected to many aspects of the Farmington community.  These include the Food Pantry Board, Services for the Elderly (Chair for 3 years), Friends of the Farmington Library (past Co-Chair) and the Historical Society. She has also been involved with the Farmington Jr. Women’s Club, the FVGLA, the Land Trust, the Barney Library Building and Fundraising committees, and many other booster clubs and community organizations.

A graduate of Farmington High School, Nancy received her degree from Hartwick College and worked in Hartford at the State Supreme Court building.  Her husband, Alan, a retired businessman, is a member of the VFW in town.  Together they have three children:  Andrew; Becca; Liz, and her husband Josh; and two grandsons – August and Braxton.  All three children are graduates of Farmington High School.

Nancy is proud to have been a part of Farmington's leadership team for more than 20 years.  During her tenure on the council, our town's finances continued to have a top Aaa rating, the council maintained core town services and outstanding schools with fiscally responsible budgets, reduced our town debt, helped preserve land as open space, strongly supported our fire, police and rails to trails and found savings in green initiatives.  The town survey updating our strategic plan was completed indicating an extremely positive result from our citizens.  Nancy will continue her commitment to quality core services, fiscal responsibility, excellence in education, and accountability at all levels.
