I am a lifelong resident of Unionville and reside in the Highlands with my wife Debbie. We raised two children who are both Farmington High School graduates. I am the owner of Edward Motor Service, Inc., founded by my father in the 1940’s, and have been employed there my entire work life.

I have also developed the J.P. Matava Business Park on New Britain Avenue and built The Matava Family Farm which is an equestrian facility.
I have always been willing to volunteer my time to Farmington and served for eight years on the Water Pollution Control Authority and currently serve on the Town Plan and Zoning Commission. I have always been a strong supporter of our police and emergency services and received the Citizen’s Award from the Farmington Police Department for my years a support.
When I am not working or serving the community I enjoy flying, auto racing and boating. I have my pilot’s license and am a lifetime member of the Piper Society. I have participated in the NASCAR Busch North Series and won the Trans Am National title two years running in 2005 and 2006.
During my time on the Town Plan and Zoning Commission I have applied my deep knowledge of the town and my business sense to guide my decisions. I have worked hard to protect neighborhoods from commercial encroachment and have supported businesses that want to come to Farmington. The medical office complex zone on Farmington Avenue was created during my term and we have some of the premier medical office space in the State. This is a tremendous benefit to Farmington residents. I hope to continue my work on the TPZ to insure the continued success of our Town.
